Career Compass Program Description:
Career Compass is the newest of Enterprise’s programs focused on helping students develop a plan for life after high school. Participants meet with a Career Counselor to navigate future career and college choices through personal reflection, interest testing and career exploration. Students can also participate in individual counseling, career and college workshops, SAT preparation and career panels.
Objective:
Encourage youth to become more knowledgeable about a variety of career options.
Duties:
Attend career panels and talk to students about the following:
- How you became interested in your line of work?
- How much education is necessary to enter your field?
- What kind of training is needed?
- What is a typical day like?
- What kind of tasks do you do on the job?
- What are the challenges and rewards of someone working in your field?
- What is the expected salary range of someone working in your occupation (both entry level and experienced)?
- What suggestions would you have for someone considering this occupation?
- Are there any opportunities for youth to get exposed to the work that you do?
- Qualifications:
- Interest in educating youth about career preparation
- Willingness to share information about career preparation
- Ability to fulfill time commitment
Time Commitment:
This short-term volunteer opportunity asks all panelists to commit approximately 2 hours on designated event dates. Panelists will be notified approximately one month before a career panel event is scheduled.
