WHAT KINDS OF JOBS ARE AVAILABLE?
The jobs at Enterprise fall into two Enterprise groups: DOMESTIC and COMMERCIAL. They are also divided into sub-categories: ONGOING, TEMPORARY and SPOT.
DOMESTIC
DOMESTIC JOBS are jobs which occur in someones home. These jobs may include child care, running errands, helping with parties, gardening, moving, house cleaning, house painting, and many others.
Child care: Looking after a child or children. This may include preparing snacks, playing games or helping around the house.
Handyperson: This job could entail cleaning the backyard, painting,
assisting with a move or fixing things around the house.
Household: Usually involving housecleaning including vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, sweeping, or washing.
Tutorial: This would involve helping children with various school subjects or teaching adults how to use a computer and different software programs and applications.
Gardening: Usually entails weeding, planting, or watering plants.
Home Office/ Clerical: Same as minor clerical and office jobs under commercial jobs but done at someones home or home office. See duties below Commercial Jobs section.
Party Assistance: These jobs entail setting up decorations or table settings for parties, serving food and beverages, replenishing drinks and food, and clean-up. For party assistance jobs, students need to have attended the Party Assistance Workshop.
Miscellaneous: This is where you will find all of the jobs that do not fit in the above categories. Examples are walking a dog or house sitting.
COMMERCIAL JOBS
COMMERCIAL JOBS are jobs that are done for a business. These jobs are listed in the following categories.
Minor Clerical: These jobs involve some filing, answering phones, addressing and stuffing envelopes, photocopying and running errands. Skills for minor clerical are not as demanding as those for an "office" position.
Office: Jobs can include all of the above responsibilities along with word processing, filing and data entry.
Customer Service/Retail: These jobs are usually in stores selling merchandise, filling in the stock, cleaning and taking inventory, and telemarketing. This category also includes ushering at movie theaters.
Food Service/Restaurant: Tasks can include waiting tables, bussing dishes, working in the kitchen and operating cash registers.
Handyperson: These jobs include office cleaning, painting, construction and odd jobs, as well as helping with a move.
Childcare Commercial: These jobs include working at a Day Care Center or an after school program helping out with activities, playing games, and preparing snacks.
Miscellaneous: These jobs are varied and may include anything from handing out flyers, delivering parcels, and even "watching cement dry on a sidewalk so no one writes or walks on it".
ONGOING, TEMPORARY AND SPOT JOBS
Students can find jobs to fit their schedule as well as their interests. The jobs at Enterprise are divided into three sub-categories:
Ongoing Jobs last three months or longer.
Temporary Jobs last from a week to several months. An example would be a summer internship program.
Spot Jobs only occur one or two times. Examples are helping an office stuff envelopes for a big mailing or cleaning out someone's garage. |
